Two Swedish sisters and an idea brought back from California. You probably met them at the Foodtech Village Live at Smaka på Stockholm last year. Or you have already tried their amazing vegan snack-bars. But if you didn’t yet, please meet… Alice and Earth Bite!
Who is Alice?
My name is Alice and I am together with my sister Ani the founder of Earth Bite, which is a new vegan food brand that we launched on the Swedish market in April 2018. I founded the company almost 3 years ago as a result of my inner passion for sustainability, health and entrepreneurship. I got the initial idea when I was living in Santa Barbara, California, in 2014 and after talking to my sister about it, we both realised the potential for this idea to turn into a viable business. When living in California I always used to eat snack bars in between my classes in college. One day I was standing in front of the giant snack bar shelf in the grocery store and I realised how difficult it was to find a healthy vegan snack bar that was free from sugars, milk and additives. That's when I started to think about creating my own bar that would be 100% vegan, organic and made with only natural ingredients. When I then moved back to Sweden I decided to turn the idea into reality, so I partnered with my creative sister who was still living back in California herself, and we created Earth Bite.
What is Earthbite?
At Earth Bite, our mission is to create food products that are friendly to the animals and sustainable for our planet. By using 100% plant-based, organic and natural ingredients, we have created a new vegan and organic energy bar that makes it easier for people to eat vegan snacks on the go.
What’s the best thing that happened to Earthbite so far?
One of the most rewarding things that happened while working on this project was when I in September 2017 won the award Future Entrepreneur of the Year at the Swedish Entrepreneurship Gala in Stockholm. This was after I had been working with the project for 1,5 years. This was a magical moment and an important milestone in my career, telling me that I was on the right path in my entrepreneurial journey.
Why do you think this is now the time?
More and more people have realised the need to shift towards more sustainable and healthy diets, increasing the demand for plant-based and organic foods. We believe that a whole foods plant-based diet is one of the best ways to minimise environmental impact and by delivering snacks that makes it easier for people to choose that sustainable option, is more timely than ever.
