“A new and innovative way of growing your own food, while becoming immersed in the growing process and learn about sustainable farming.” From a thesis project to a company, from Kickstarter to Indiegogo… please meet Hamza and Ecobloom!

Please, Introduce yourself:

My name is Hamza Qadoumi, and I'm a social entrepreneur and the Founder of Ecobloom! I’m also a 21st century urban farmer! What is that? Well, I grow my own food at home in my tiny apartment in the south of Stockholm! For years I’ve had a huge interest for sustainable farming and technology. With a background in Mechanical Engineering and a passion for urban farming, I decided to start Ecobloom. My mission ever since has been to educate people about sustainable farming, while empowering them to grow smarter and live healthier.

How would you pitch your project?

Ecobloom is a FoodTech startup developing AI-powered micro farms for households, restaurants, cafes and offices. We empower people to grow smarter, eat better and live healthier. By combining an ancient growing technique known as aquaponics with technology, we are enabling users to grow fresh and organic food all year round, while being able to monitor and control the whole growing process, from seed to harvest, right from their phones and through voice assistant. A new and innovative way of growing your own food, while becoming immersed in the growing process and learn about sustainable farming.

What’s the best thing that happened while working on this project?

Our successful crowdfunding campaign that we launched in September. It was Ecobloom's biggest milestone so far, and it was such an enriching journey! We brought EcoGarden (our innovation) to life and shared it with the world! And people can still get it today via our website.

Why do you think this is now the time?

Because educating people about sustainable farming and empowering them with the tools to grow smarter has never been as important and necessary as it is now. We're wasting a vast amount of food every day and we are unaware of how our consumption of food and water affect the world negatively. So, creating awareness and respect for food is our mission!
