Who is Mattias Green?
At Winnow we develop digital tools to help chefs run more profitable, sustainable kitchens by cutting food waste in half. You can think of us as 'The Tesla for Food Waste'.
What is Winnow?
Trusted by thousands of chefs in over 40 countries, kitchens using Winnow typically cut food costs by 3%-8% within a year. Clients like IKEA, Compass Group and Marriott are saving $29m in reduced food purchasing costs whilst doing the right thing for the environment. Let us show you how much you could be saving.
What’s the best thing that happened to Winnow so far?
We won (last week) the Tech Disruptor Award at the World Economic Forum which is great validation for the amazing chefs around the world fighting food waste with Winnow.
Why do you think this is now the time?
Food waste is the defining problem of our generation. 1/3 of all food worldwide is wasted and if food waste was a country it would be the third largest emitter of greenhouse gasses. Project drawdown ranked solving food waste as number three in an exhaustive list of solutions to reverse global warming, If we are serious about creating a more sustainable planet, we simply must solve it quickly.
Your message to the world:
We believe in the power of chefs because they shape our food culture. We eat at their restaurants and watch their documentaries. At home, we try and emulate them and cook their recipes. If we can engage with the chef community on the subject of food waste, we will have a realistic chance of meeting the Sustainable Development Goal of halving food waste worldwide by 2030.
